Toledo's Attic, a program of the Lucas County-Maumee Valley Historical Society, rests on the belief that historical knowledge of one's own city enriches a sense of personal and cultural identity, engenders civic spirit and responsibility, and contributes to a well-lived life. Thus its mission is to identify and publicly display artifacts and other evidence that help to reconstruct, interpret, and commemorate the story of twentieth-century Toledo and its surrounding communities.
OBJECTIVES:
- Develop intergenerational interest, appreciation, and respect for our unique heritage.
- Facilitate the ongoing identification, acquisition, preservation, and exhibition of archives, artifacts, oral histories, and sites.
- Invite and build community support for participation and contributions to the program.
- Pursue our mission through collaboration with The Toledo Lucas County Public Library, The University of Toledo, The Toledo Museum of Art, and other appropriate entities. Reviewed and approved by the LC-MVHS Executive Committee 7-20-98.
