Marion’s “Old Post Office,” Heritage Hall, a National Register building, is the Society’s Headquarters & Museum and houses an extensive collection of memorabilia representing the citizens, industries, and ideals, including the Mary Ellen Withrow collection. Mary Ellen, a Marion County native, was the 40th Treasurer of the United States and the only person to have held the post of Treasurer at the local, state, and national levels. She is a Guinness Book of World Records holder for having her signature on more currency than anyone. The Wyandot Popcorn Museum, the only popcorn museum globally, is located within Heritage Hall under a colorful circus tent with the most extensive collection of popcorn wagons and peanut roasters in the USA, dating back to the turn of the century and restored to original condition.

An iconic 1903 Colonial Revival property, the Marion Women’s Club Home is on the National Register of Historic Places and the Ohio History Connection’s “Remarkable Ohio.” Bequeathed to the Marion Women’s Club in 1945 by Club Activist Ida Barlow (and her husband, Shauck), the home features stately columns, a sprawling curved front porch, and three floors of exquisite craftsmanship. Today, club members are working to preserve and restore the home rich with history, passion, and stories found in the Club’s rich archives, which date to its formation in 1895.

OUR MISSION: “Empowering women and enriching the community, while preserving the historic home and promoting the club’s legacy.”
