Ohio bequeathed his extensive collection of Native American artifacts, coins, documents, stamps, military memorabilia, and other artifacts to the city of Defiance with the stipulation a museum would be established in his name. The Tuttle, as the museum has been nicknamed, officially opened to the public in May 2011. The exhibits change regularly so there’s always something new to see.

A project of the Defiance County Historical Society, the village holds a group of restored buildings typical of rural northwest Ohio in the 1800s. Originated in 1966, the red barn, now the Mansfield Museum, was the only building on this site. Over 50 years later, take step back into the past and stroll through the 22 restored buildings, 4 farm museums, military museum, natural history museum, model railroad museum, operating sawmill, and railroad train rides that encircle the Village.
